Recently 39 people from the Get Outside program gathered to explore the beautiful Chauncy Vale. I short walk uphill, stopping to listen to birds on the way, was rewarded with views and amazing caves. The sandstone rock tells many stories and the acoustics of the cave encourage sining. We enjoyed eating a bag of snakes in the cave – a reward for the 7 children who made it all the way to the top. We slowly wandered our way down into the valley, learning about aspect and bush fires. The creek was a welcome relief. Playing in the rock pools and exploring nooks and crannies tool up much time. The Get Outside program encourages people from a migrant and refugee background to spend time in nature and learn about their new home.
