Fundraising for the Maugean Skate

The Maugean Skate is Tasmania’s largest endemic fish. These ancient Gondwanan relicts live only in the tannin-stained waters of Macquarie Harbour where they have resided for countless generations. However, they are one of the State’s most endangered marine species and face a very high risk of extinction due to the impacts of fishing, habitat and climate change.

The Friends of the Henty, a Strahan-based Wildcare group are raising funds to increase community awareness of the plight of the Maugean Skate by the commission of local artists to create works for permanent public display and actively supporting sufficient, predictable and long-term scientific research programs. Read more about the project here: Standing up for our Skates

By making a financial contribution, you will be letting all who share the waterway with the Maugean Skate, that people from near and afar care about this creature and its fate.

Thank you for your generous support of Wildcare.
As your money goes directly to supporting your chosen Wildcare group operations, this is non-deductible for taxation purposes.

If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to Wildcare’s work, please see our Wildcare Tasmanian Nature Conservation Fund.

Minimum Price: $10.00
