Are you experienced with identifying Orange-bellied Parrots?

Have you previously been a volunteer OBP monitor at Melaleuca or volunteered at the Five Mile Beach Wildlife Facility?

Are you available to participate in the surveys for the full period of 24 April to 1 May 2024?

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

Teams of two or more will visit different areas on King Island between 24 April and 1 May to look for Orange-bellied Parrots. Note that thanks to a generous grant from Wildcare’s Tasmanian Nature Conservation Fund, return airfares from Launceston and accommodation will be provided for six volunteers.

A Call for Expressions of Interest will be sent to people who register for the event. If you have any questions before you register, please email Friends.of.the.OBP@gmail.com  Everyone who submits an Expression of Interest will be informed by the end of February about whether or not they have been selected to take part in the surveys.

You need to be logged into your Wildcare account to see the “register” button.  If you have any problems logging in, please email Friends.of.the.OBP@gmail.com

Registrations close at midnight on Wednesday 7 February and Expressions of Interest must be submitted by midnight on Friday 9 February.

We are also planning to hold five other OBP surveys during 2024:

We hope to advertise the February and March surveys soon.
