Penguin Cradle Trail Working Bee
Autumn is upon us and the days are cooling a little, but still plenty of daylight, so why not join us for a pleasant outing in the bush.
The survey of seed-eating birds will be held in various locations in the Strahan / Trial Harbour area. People who need to travel through Marrawah on their way home on Monday will be able to survey a site or sites between Temma and Marrawah instead of in the Strahan / Trial Harbour area.
While we hope to see some Orange-bellied Parrots (OBPs), the aim is to establish some survey sites of habitat that is suitable for OBPs for repeat surveys in the coming years.
The survey will start with on the ground training on Saturday afternoon in small groups with pairs of volunteers surveying other sites in the afternoon and on Sunday and Monday. Preference will be given to people who can volunteer for the three days.
All volunteers need to be registered as DPIPWE volunteers and to have completed DPIPWE's online COVID training.
A detailed information sheet is emailed to people after they register. Please respond to the series of questions at the end of the sheet. People registering on or after 27 March will be offered free accommodation upstairs in the Customs Building at Strahan where floor space is available where people can use their own sleeping mats, sleeping bags etc.
Please register by email to FoOBP@bigpond.com before 5pm on Thursday 1 April.
