Trackwork on the Penguin Cradle Trail
We have had summer off from working bees but now time to do a little more maintenance on the track. The PCT is currently in pretty good shape thanks to the hard work of many.
There are several mainland groups that I know of using the track this summer and I have had reports of them meeting others along the way. The Tramway Track along the Leven River is having work done on it by contractors with PWS flood funding. They are re-routing the track to higher ground around the areas where the bank was washed away. The new track is steeper but is well done and gives a nice view back down to the river and is a walk well worth doing.
There are two possible locations for the next working bee and this will depend on numbers and the weather forecast. The locations are the top section of the track to Black Bluff where the Bauera has encroached on to the track making passage difficult, or the section from Purtons Flats towards Mt Lorymer as it has been a while since this was done.
Tools, safety gear and morning tea provided and normal bushwalking gear for a day walk is required. If you would like a day out in this part of our wonderful state then come along.
