Our next working bee is coming around on Saturday the 11th of December. This time we'll be doing a bit of surveying of weed infestations along the banks of the Henty River, the nearby section of dunes, and the nearby lagoon. There is certainly plenty of blackberry, holly, lupines, gorse, and montpellier broom to be found out there, so it would be great to have an up-to-date concrete idea of where all these weeds are, and how bad the infestations are.

We will be using a simple mobile app called 'GPS Waypoints' to mark precise locations of each contaminated site, and I will then collate them all to create a map.

If you have a smartphone and would like to mark waypoints, you can download the app here, or find it on the Google Play Store, and I can show you how it works on the day. You don't have to have the app to help out, as we will need plenty of eyes on the bush looking for weeds.

We will meet at 9am at the Henty River Boatramp, where the Henty River intersects Henty Road between Zeehan and Strahan. From there, we can follow a track that leads out to the mouth of the river. We might not make it all the way to the end, but we will just survey for about 3 hours and see how we go.

Bring along some water, long pants, sunscreen, and of course a raincoat. The track is fairly flat and easy, but still bring some good walking boots.

We will be walking along a 4WD track and may well encounter 4WD vehicles, so be ready for that. We have hi-vis vests that we will all be wearing throughout the day. Aside from that, the day will be fairly relaxed, and a good excuse to get out in a nice patch of bush, hopefully in the sunshine!

Some tea/coffee and snacks will be provided. I hope to see you there!
