Penguin Cradle Trail Working Bee
Autumn is upon us and the days are cooling a little, but still plenty of daylight, so why not join us for a pleasant outing in the bush.
Do you enjoy getting out in the bush?
Would you like to do something positive to help save a critically endangered species?
If the answer is yes, we would love to have you join us for the OBP survey.
Teams of two or more will visit different areas around Arthur River over the weekend of 18-19 May to look for Orange-bellied Parrots. Note that the survey locations on the Sunday will all be at Woolnorth.
Volunteers will need to travel to Arthur River on Friday 17 May, to arrive by 7pm to check in with the survey leaders as the surveys will start at about 8am on Saturday morning. The finishing time on the Sunday afternoon will be flexible to fit in with volunteers’ travel needs.
We will run an induction session by Zoom about the surveys on Tuesday 14 May. Zoom is easy to use so don’t worry if you haven’t used it before – we will help you with getting started.
The Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS) will waive fees for volunteers who would like to stay at the Peppermint Campground in Arthur River on the Friday and Saturday nights, or volunteers may choose to make their own arrangements.
A detailed information sheet will be sent to people who register for the event. If you have any questions before you register, please email Friends.of.the.OBP@gmail.com
Registrations close on Friday 3 May. Note that you need to be logged into your Wildcare account to see the “register” button. You also be registered as a volunteer with Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania to take part in the survey.
Note that there will be two other OBP surveys during 2024:
These dates are firm and will be added to the Event Calendar eight weeks before they are due to start.
Knowing the number of people who wish to attend is critical to planning these events. Registering here indicates your commitment to attend. If this changes, please contact Friends.of.the.OBP@gmail.com
