Penguin Cradle Trail Working Bee
Autumn is upon us and the days are cooling a little, but still plenty of daylight, so why not join us for a pleasant outing in the bush.
Dr Eric Woehler, Convener of Birdlife Tasmania will be holding an illustrated talk on Little Penguins at a forum at the George Town Hub.
The talk will report on the results of surveys of the Low Head Penguin Colony that were done during 2019 and 2020. Following the talk, there will be a presentation introducing the recently announced Little Penguin Toolkit that has been developed for use by Tasmanian communities where Little Penguins are present. The forum will conclude with a discussion on options for the George Town and Low Head Communities to protect and monitor Little Penguins in the area.
The forum is open to all members of the public. The organisers are keen to invite younger members of the community, such as secondary school students who may be interested in becoming involved by building nesting boxes, viewing security camera images of penguins to monitor their numbers, and learning about weed control in the area.
