Your donation to the Get into Nature cause will support people to develop a strong appreciation for nature and a love of, and commitment to, working to benefit the natural environment.
Projects may include:
- Community outdoor nature activities
- Practical hands-on education projects about our environment, including the Get Outside Program.
Get Outside Program
Get Outside facilitates nature-based experiences for refugees and new migrants in Tasmania. The program has been ongoing since 2012, and has taken well over 1,000 refugees and migrants on bushwalks, outdoor events and camps. An independent assessment report found that the program made profound differences to the mental well-being, connections and sense of belonging of participants. We hope that these people will go on to become future carers and ambassadors for Tasmania’s environment.
Wildcare Tasmania currently takes a $0 admin fee from donations. We know that a $0 fee is rare and we work hard to maintain this. You can also help by joining us as a member.
Donations to Wildcare Tasmania are managed in accordance with our status as a Registered Environmental Organisation. Grant applications are invited from Wildcare volunteer groups and organisational partners, at least twice per year to ensure that money is getting out onto the ground where needed. Applications are assessed by the Wildcare Grants Assessment Committee; a group of highly qualified people who are passionate about Tasmania’s wild places and wildlife. This governance process means that donors are able to claim a tax deduction for donations.
