Kelcey Tier bird watching, habitat tree surveying and tree protection. Identify birds via their call and visually and numbers present. Identify potential trees with hollows for bird habitat especially critically endangered Swift parrots. Clear base of trees to protect from burning when hazard reduction burns are conducted.
Wildcare Friends of Devonport Reserves
The Friends of Devonport Reserves are a group of volunteers who support and assist where required the care and maintenance of the reserves in the Devonport Municipality.
Who we are
We are a small group of passionate volunteers from diverse backgrounds who assist in caring in the reserves
in Devonport. We meet once every three months to plan activities in conjunction with the Devonport City Council. We meet at the Paranaple Centre on the first Wednesday every three months.
Where we work
Reserves in the Devonport Municipality, Kelcey Tier, Don Reserve, Turners Reserve, Don Heads, Pardoe Beach
and other reserves in the municipality.
What we do
In conjunction with, and under the direction of Devonport Council Reserves Management, we carry out:
- Flora and fauna surveys
- Mapping of vegetation and weed infestation
- Low level manual work
- Assist with interpretation activities
