Penguin chicks at their burrow entrance waiting for their parent to arrive to feed them.
Little Penguins returning to their colony
Our Penguin Guides have this chalkboard on the entry gate giving details of the previous nights Penguins coming ashore. Please be at the platform half an hour before dusk so that the Penguins will feel safe to come ashore. Too much movement on the platform will impact the Penguins and they will stay down at the shoreline on the rocks. Visitors need to be still and quiet so that they will feel safe and come ashore.
The view from the platform as the Little Penguins were coming ashore. We have Penguin friendly red lighting so that visitors can see the Penguins. Photo's can be easily edited to remove the red turning your pics into gorgeous black & white photos!
We're not just volunteer Penguin Guides! This Little Penguin chick had a plastic bag tightly wrapped around his little legs. He was free to go back to his burrow after all of the plastic was gently removed by Volunteer Penguin Guide Jen. Please DO NOT leave any rubbish around the Little Penguins Colony. Rubbish bins are located at the far end of the carpark near the BBQ shelter.
