WILDCARE Inc Office

Are you seeking a fresh leadership opportunity? Do you have the skills, experience, philosophical connection and time to commit to guiding an established not-for-profit charity making a genuine difference to wild Tasmanian places?

Wildcare Tasmania is a strong team of volunteers, financial donors and staff supporting the care and conservation of Tasmania’s wild places. Wildcare offers some of the most genuinely wild volunteering and benefactor opportunities in Tasmania.

Wildcare is seeking nominations for election to fill two vacant Board positions.

People who are attracted by Wildcare’s purposes of volunteering and raising funds to support Tasmania’s wild places and who have any of the following skills are encouraged to nominate for election to the Board:

  • organisational partnerships
  • growing revenue and fundraising
  • governance including financial oversight
  • community engagement
  • environmental volunteer management/experience, especially knowledge of or involvement with Wildcare volunteer groups

All positions are voluntary. Some reimbursement of expenses may be available on request.

To be elected as a Board member, a person needs to be a member of Wildcare and not to be disqualified from managing a corporation or from being a responsible entity of an entity registered under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission Act 2012.

Meeting details: The Wildcare Board usually holds about 5 ordinary meetings per year, on a weekday. Currently, our 2023 schedule is 3 online meetings and one face-to-face meeting in each of Hobart and Launceston. Meetings generally take around 4 hours. Special meetings are held occasionally.

How to nominate: If you would like to be elected as a Board member, please review this Wildcare Board role description and email a 1-page expression of interest providing details of relevant skills and experience to memberservices@wildcaretas.org.au. Please attach a CV if you have one.

Board members will be elected by Wildcare members at the Wildcare Annual General Meeting on Thursday 23 March starting at 7 pm, by Zoom. It is expected that candidates will be available to attend the meeting, and that their expressions of interest and CVs will be made available to Wildcare members attending the annual general meeting.

Register here for the AGM.

Please submit expressions of interest by 5 pm, Tuesday 28 February 2023.
