Sponsorship for the Habitat Restoration and Shearwater Monitoring program
The Friends of Maatsuyker Island Wildcare (FOMI) acknowledge and extend a special thanks to the Pennicott Foundation for the recently received $5,000 donation toward the Habitat Restoration and Shearwater Monitoring Program on Maatsuyker Island (Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area).
The Pennicott Foundation donation will greatly assist the works by FOMI to protect the island’s significant vegetation and important seabird colony habitat from invasive weeds. The program includes monitoring of short-tailed shearwaters to measure the recolonisation of areas previously infested by weeds and to enable annual estimates of breeding population size and breeding success.
