Keep Australia Beautiful Recognition
The Macquarie Harbour Shoreline Clean-up Steering Committee have been nominated for the Keep Australia Beautiful Tasmania Clean Beaches Award. The 2018 Macquarie Harbour Shoreline Clean-up was an outstanding achievement and wouldn’t have been possible without the support and commitment of participating organisations and it is a great honour to be nominated for this Award.
The Clean Beaches Awards recognises individuals or community groups for showing pride in their local beach. Judges take into account the geographical, environmental and economic circumstances, and assess the way in which entrants use the available resources to maintain the beach environment.
The clean-up would have been very restricted in area and effectiveness if not for the Wildcare volunteers going out on boats to the remote beaches in the Harbour.
The Awards are being held in Smithton on Friday 19 October. We wish them all the best!
