From the 7th – 11th April Volunteers, industry, stakeholders and the community are joining together to collect marine debris from beaches and coves in Macquarie Harbour, to prevent harm to our wildlife and the environment.

If you’d like to join in, go to this link to register.

Clean-up teams will collect marine debris from remote beaches that can only be accessed by boat, such as Birches Inlet, Wrights Bay, Big Pebbly Beach, Kelly Basin, Pine Point, Gould Point and Sarah Island. Land based teams will collect marine debris around Strahan, The King River and Ocean Beach.

The clean-up is made possible by Tassal, Petuna, Huon Aquaculture, West Coast Yacht Charters, Cradle Coast NRM Parks and Wildlife Tasmania, WildCare, Conservation Volunteers, Active Strahan and local volunteers.

Lunch will be provided daily with some other meals and BBQs of local produce supplied. Accommodation or the choice of free camping will be provided in Strahan.

Volunteers must be experienced in marine operations and remote area work and must be available for the induction on Saturday morning and the majority of the 5 days.
