Get Filled to the Gunwales at George Town

George Town will be the location of this year’s Wildcare AGM on Saturday, 24 March 2018, starting at 11am. The venue will be the Bass and Flinders Centre, 8 Elizabeth Street (map).

Part of the display at the Bass and Flinders Centre Part of the display at the Bass and Flinders Centre Following the meeting there will be a tour of the Centre, which includes the full-sized, working replica of the Norfolk, the vessel that Bass and Flinders sailed from Sydney and around Tasmania in 1798, thereby proving the existence of Bass Strait. Additionally, there is a host of restored wooden boats and other maritime memorabilia. Lunch will also be provided. For those wishing to stay longer, there will be a choice of other activities in the afternoon, including a coastal walk from George Town to Low Head, a walking tour of some of the historic buildings of George Town and a visit to the Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum. There are various accommodation options available for people who would like to stay for the weekend.

More information is available by emailing secretary@wildcaretas.org.au.   More About the AGM The business of the Annual General Meeting is restricted to the presentation of the annual report and election of the members of the Wildcare Board of Management. Become a part of the Board and help steer the ship: the Board overseas Wildcare’s strategic operations, finances, the internal grants program and dispersal of monies from the Wildcare Gift Fund. The following elected Board positions are all vacant:
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • General Members
