Friends of Tasman Island

One volunteer is worth ten pressed men
(it’s a naval expression used again and again);
So here’s to the Friends and their mission bold;
And time well spent in Tasman’s fold!

Over the past 11 years FoTI has achieved an impressive range of conservation and maintenance work during 25 self-funded working bees on Tasman Island.

Finding funds to continue with this work is always a challenge.  This is particularly so in this day and age when finance from government and semi-government sources seems to be drying up.   So the Wildcare group Friends of Tasman Island is hoping that crowd-funding will fill the gap.

Our initial aim of halting further deterioration of the buildings, infrastructure and landscape has been accomplished.  But there is still more to be done.  The project for our next working bee in late October will be to restore the sun room and verandah of Quarters 2.

To be able to achieve this, FoTI has commenced a crowd-funding campaign which will run from Friday 8 September through to Friday 6 October.
