WILDTALK

Going Beyond Vegetation Repair: Building Community Engagement at Sisters Beach Estuary Dr Colin Hocking, Emeritus Research Fellow, La Trobe University Wildcare's AGM's are definitely not boring! At the end of the meeting, Colin Hocking from Sisters Beach Wildcare will present on the group's work engaging local government and the community in the face of a changing coastal environment. Coastal erosion is a serious problem at Sisters Beach, as it is around Australia. Sisters Beach Wildcare is investigating what the local impacts of coastal erosion are, and how best to respond to these. Colin will talk about how Wildcare has gone about this, as well as tackling a bigger question, of how to engage with the wider community, beyond those already thinking actively about environmental protection. This includes bringing wider attention to what is happening in the local environment, and how the local community can best contribute to finding solutions and protect our key local natural assets.
