UPCOMING FRIENDS OF THREE HUMMOCK ISLAND WORKING BEE APRIL/MAY - CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Posted 29 Mar, 2022

Dear FROTHI members,

We're excited to report another windswept, wild adventure awaits on Three Hummock Island!

We’re looking for a keen group of volunteers to join us for our 2nd annual working bee pulling Sea Spurge on beaches around Three Hummock Island April 30 - May 5.

The working bee objectives are to collect as much Sea Spurge and marine rubbish as we can as part of a larger Hooded Plover protection project currently happening on Three Hummock Island with Cradle Coast Authority, Biosecurity Tasmania and Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS).

-Are you free from April 30 - May 5 (weather permitting)? -Are you willing to crawl on hands and knees when necessary, pulling invasive weeds in gale force winds and showers?  -Are you keen to see Three Hummock Island and share a house with 7 or 8 other enthusiastic volunteers?  -Are you able to depart from Wynyard or Smithton and travel by boat or small plane (pending weather) over Bass Strait?   If so, please email us at threehummockisland@gmail.com (subject line: FROTHI WORKING BEE) ASAP and we can provide more details and information about our upcoming trip. Due to the limited timeframe before our working bee, we ask that all respondents be certain they are free for the April 30 - May 5 dates as last minute cancellations will be extremely difficult to fill due to logistics. We can't wait to hear from you!   Warm regards, Taylor and Jesse Friends of Three Hummock Island (FROTHI)
