Wildcare Friends of Melaleuca President, Janet Fenton is an accomplished artist with a lifelong connection to Melaleuca in Southwest Tasmania where rusted mining machinery is gradually merging into the present living landscape.
Rust holds memories of the past. The past disintegrates into the future. This body of work offers reflection on time, place, change and memory.
In this exhibition of paintings, Janet explores documented history and legend, the shape of the present, and offers us a very personal response to this incredible place. The patina of this rust is collaged into the artist's mixed media images.
To be opened by Melissa Smith on Thursday 4 August at 6pm.
