Hello to all the Friends of Freycinet!
2016 is a very special year to be a friend of this much loved Park. Why? Because together with our friends the Friends of Mt Field we are celebrating our Centenary this year.
The Parks and Wildlife Service and all stakeholders ( that’s includes us!) will be holding special events throughout the year to mark this momentous achievement. Mind you, the events we hold have all been special.
So, to kick off the year we are having a working bee from 9-15 May which is National Volunteer week, and plan to rejuvenate the Outdoor Theatre complex at the Visitors Centre and other interesting projects. PWS intend to highlight the work of volunteers during this week.
If you are interested please register for the event or contact Dave Harris on (03) 6229 5466 for more details.
If you cannot make this workbee there are other events planned such as the June Jam Packed Jolly, Spring into September and another Schouten Island adventure in December. These will be posted later as more details are worked out. In addition there will be some very special centenary events forthcoming, details of which are on www.parks.tas.gov.au\centenary. On this site you will find a fabulous photo gallery, snippets of information and stories about the interesting history of the Park as well as an events calendar.
I hope that we can get good numbers to these working bees so that we can all look back on 2016 as a very special year indeed.
