Bath? Bricklayer? Cumbungi! and 1914!

Posted 15 Jan, 2016
Friends of Bruny Island Quarantine Station are in need of an old bath to assist with the interpretation of the historic cleansing room. If you can donate an old claw foot cast iron or tin style bath we would be keen to know ... or if you know where one might be located? UPDATE: - Great news - we have found a bath! We have cleaned and polished over 500 old style bricks to build our  small brick wall (only 5 courses high by two deep). Now we need a bricklayer to help us for a day or so, we are ready to go, do you know of a person who can help us? The cumbungi in the lower dam has been dealt with....many thanks to Kathy, Paul, Peter, Scott, Richard and others... Our President Kathy has been contacted by a lady in Germany whose grandfather was  held  captive on the Station during World War 1 (1914). We are very keen to see what he wrote about in his diaries and what be painted  during his 'visit'. If you can help with either a bath (any condition will be considered) or a bricklayer please contact Kathy on 03 62606287. Here are some of the keen cumbungi volunteers, in the thick of it ! Three of our team of six cumbungi warriers. Three of our team of  cumbungi warriors.
