Wildcare Coastal Custodians
Our members organise an annual beach cleanup and monitoring program along the remote south coast beaches of Tasmania. All the rubbish is collected, counted and collated to help in identifying the rubbish source and to further education programs to reduce this environmental damage.
Where we work
We work along the remote south coast beaches of Tasmania, in the stunning South West National Park, part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
What we do
Each year a beach cleanup and monitoring program is conducted along the remote south coast beaches of Tasmania. Each year volunteers are chosen and invited to travel to the remote beaches and collect and catalogue the rubbish. The records made help to identify the rubbish and allows work to be done to reduce particular types of rubbish.
Facing the Southern Ocean the coast is battered by storms and wild weather, bringing with it a variety of rubbish and fishing equipment.
