Wildlife - 67 Members

Wildcare Friends of the Derwent and Channel Penguins

Our members undertake conservation and maintenance work in the colonies of Little Penguins in the Derwent and D'Entrecasteaux Channel. Alongside other volunteers from Council and private landowners we also assist with population counts and breeding surveys.

Islands - 217 Members

Friends of Maria Island

Our group developed from an initial involvement in the renovation of historic farm buildings, but now has broadened towards sustaining the long term future of the island’s ecosystems as well as it’s cultural heritage. We came together through a common interest in preserving the environment and heritage of the island.

Wildlife - 2 Members

Tamar Valley Wildlife Roadkill Initiative

The group aims to focus on and assist like-minded individuals and organisations in the mitigation of roadkill in Tasmania. WILDCARE Deslacs
Cape Deslacs Nature Reserve working bee (November)
The Cape Deslacs Nature Reserve contains perched dune fields of national significance. The resident colony of Short-tailed Shearwater (Tasmanian Muttonbird) is estimated to support 8,000 burrows, and is protected by Tasmanian legislation. Wildcare Deslacs undertakes a range of activities, including weed control and feral animal trapping, to protect these natural values.
