"This new collection of bird paintings has been a pleasure to complete. In the ten years since my last exhibition I've been happily occupied raising our young family and now that my children are school age, the extra time I have to paint feels very precious. I've chosen the bird theme again and feel I probably always will. I love the way their feathers move and the patterns they create. Bird species are so diverse too. Majestic eagles, elegant parrots and honey eaters and of course cute little wrens. Often the backgrounds in my paintings are just as detailed as the bird. It is a thrill to find perfectly marked or twisted branches, tiny moss and lichen gardens and one of my favourite to paint, Kangaroo fern looped around branches. We have such a beautiful and inspiring landscape in Tasmania and I feel very privileged to live here and share it through paintings."Belinda Kurczok
