Maria Is. – Weeding Canary Broom + Sea Spurge. Nov. 17-22nd 2017

(leave Triabunna on Fri. pm and returning Wed am – times depending upon ferry operations)

Primary control of the broom has been completed so we are now checking sites to remove regrowth in Bernacchis valley and on Skipping Ridge.
Weeding involves pulling smaller plants and cutting and pasting larger plants (very few).
We often work in areas of rough, steep terrain and thick bush. Tools and instruction provided.

Average hours worked are 6-7 this includes walking to sites and meal breaks.
Cost of transport to island is covered.

2 bedrooms (6 bunks in each) + sitting room and kitchen with stove, fridge, freezer, microwave and utensils; or nearby camping.

Numbers limited to 6.

Please Bring
Daypack – (to hold lunch, snacks, water, tools, waterproofs, first aid etc.)
Small mat – to sit or kneel on.
Personal First Aid kit.
Water bottle.
Light indoor shoes.
Long trousers, gaiters, boots, long sleeved shirt.
Please ensure that boots, gaiters etc. are scrubbed clean of mud and free of seeds, as we want to avoid introducing more weeds and phytophthora!
Spare clothes.
Sun cream, hat, insecticide.
Sleeping bag + sheet to cover mattress (+ pillow if wanted)

Bring food for all meals + drinks and snacks (we will have lunches on site)
