Weed control – Bass Strait Islands, Franklin Sound

Working in Franklin Sound on Fisher and Little Dog Islands and Briggs Islet, we will undertaking primary weed control of mirrorbush and boxthorn. There will be a need for people to use chainsaws and/or hand tools. We will all use herbicide. All PPE provided apart from safety boots which people with chainsaw certification need to provide.

We will camp around a hut. It sounds cosy (aka small). You will need to provide your own camping gear. Food, cooking gear and flights and boating all organized.

You need to be reasonably fit and agile enough to climb between boats and dinghies with confidence. The group will be chosen to balance skill sets required. The greatest attribute is to get on with a group of people.

Trips are fun but hard work. And you need to be flexible as plans sometimes have to change because of weather.
