Our first multiday working bee is coming up on the 1st and 2nd of April! Here's the rough plan for the weekend,

Day 1: Weeding gorse around the camping areas at the Henty backwater, from 8:30 to 3 with a BBQ lunch,

Day 2: Weeding broom at the end of the Ocean Beach Trail from 9 to 12.

We hope you can join us, either for one of the days or both! To come along, you must be signed up as an NRE volunteer. You can do so here, and it takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete: https://app.betterimpact.com/Application?OrganizationGuid=aa3c186c-ebde-4f84-9091-6abaef6dc2be&ApplicationFormNumber=1

For the first day, we will meet at the Parks and Wildlife Workshop (17 Herbert Street) at 8:30am. We will carpool in 4WD vehicles and head up Henty Road, and onto the 4WD track out to the Henty camps.

We will work on the gorse, cutting and pasting, until around 12, when we will have a BBQ lunch. If there is still more to do at the campground we will keep going, but otherwise we will head further up Henty Road to another gorse infested site.

If you are around on Saturday night, we will have a group dinner, either at the West Strahan Beach BBQ's or People's Park BBQ's depending on the wind!

For the second day, we will meet at the Parks Workshop again at 8:45am. Then head to the Ocean Beach Carpark. We will walk up the beach to the end of the Ocean Beach Trail where we will be cutting broom in the coastal grassland and underneath the closed scrub forest. Here we can also inspect the progress of the recently released sea spurge biocontrol!

As always there will be tea and snacks on both days.

We will be watching the weather, and the event may be postponed or changed depending on this.

For those coming from out of town, we unfortunately can't cover your accommodation at this stage but there are a number of accommodation options in Strahan, including camping at either of the 2 caravan parks.

What to bring:
