Friends of the OBP (FoOBP) will be conducting a survey of seed-eating birds on the west coast from Temma to Green Point Beach, with volunteers based at Arthur River.

Orange-bellied Parrots (OBPs) are seed-eating birds known to migrate from Melaleuca in south west Tasmania to the mainland each autum and return again in the springtime.  Some may over-winter in Tasmania.

Campsite fees will be paid by FoOBP, but volunteers will need to provide their own accommodation in tents or campervans etc.  Cabin and holiday home style accommodation is also available at Arthur River.

Note that the event starts with a short meeting at Arthur River at 5pm on the Saturday, allowing the day for travel and setting up camp.  The survey will end by 5pm on the Tuesday, with the Wednesday set aside for people to pack up and return home.  Travel home may be possible on the Tuesday evening.

If you are intested in volunteering for the survey, please either register online or email Marianne at FoOBP@bigpond.com for more details by Saturday 17 July.
