Friends of Freycinet – Schouten Island
This is a 10 day working bee concentrating on the removal of gorse from Schouten Island.
Yes this working bee will be mainly removing sweet pittosporum at the lookouts in Bicheno but also, weather permitting, the removal of an abandoned boat "Barney Rubble" at Passage Beach (south of Bryans Beach). Will involve travel by boat, some digging in sand and handling and packaging boat debris (timber, fibreglass etc) to a set location where it will be removed by PWS later in April by heli-lift. Sounds like fun to me!
Note accommodation is very limited within the park at this time of year. If possible can participants please camp, tents/campervans/camper trailers welcome. Camping will be provided at Richardsons Beach. Please advise on registration if you are wanting accommodation or if you are happy to camp.
