Friends of Low Head Penguin Colony will be joining the George Town Council and YMCA to participate in a FREE family event 'Dogz Day Out'.

The purpose of the Friends of the Low Head Penguin Colony involvement is to make residents of the Low Head and George Town communities aware of the impact on our penguin colony by uncontrolled dogs.

We will have a marquee with a Tasmanian Parks & Wildlife DIscovery Ranger Sally MacMillan,  who will be talking about the issues of dogs in penguin colonies and she will be involving children of different ages in some interactive activities. The children will also receive age appropriate penguin kits. Sally will be supported by Birdlife’s international marine bird expert Dr. Eric Woehler.

There will be delicious food, drink, live music by Spike Mason and the Curious Upbeat, fun events, and dog owners can have their dogs microchipped at a discounted price.

The day will be jointly sponsored by the George Town Council, Friends of the Low Head Penguin Colony, and the YMCA and funds have been made available through our local member Bridget Archer MP and the Commonwealth Department of Industry’s Community Environment Program.

Come along, bring the whole family and have a great day out.

Date: Saturday 8th February

Time: 11am to 4pm
