Trip overview: Volunteers are invited to register for this trip, which will involve a survey for threatened flora species in TLC's Little Swanport Reserve. This 150ha private reserve was recently acquired by TLC and has not yet been surveyed for threatened flora. It includes several threatened vegetation communities which are likely to provide habitat for threatened flora. Species likely to occur include Stenanthemum pimeleoides, Eucalyptus barberi, Spyridium vexilliferum, and Eryngium ovinum.

Numbers: will be limited to 15 volunteers

Meeting time and place: 8:30am at Isphan Avenue, South Hobart (near NRM South Office); or 10am near the corner of Bresnehans Rd and Tasman Hwy, Little Swanport.

Estimated finish time: Leave site by 3:30pm and return to Hobart by 5pm.

Threatened species: Target species include Stenanthemum pimeleoides, Eucalyptus barberi, Spyridium vexilliferum, and Eryngium ovinum.

The trip will be guided by Conservation Ecologist Joe Quarmby from the Tasmanian Land Conservancy.

Site and work conditions summary: LIttle Swanport Reserve is on relatively gentle slopes and does not require a high level of fitness. There are some steeper areas along the river and in the gullies so the group may divide into smaller groups according to fitness levels. Mobile phone reception is available within the reserve, but a satellite phone and epirb will also be taken as a precaution. Please make sure all of your gear is clean and free of seeds and soil (see below).

Please read the complete flier and register by 20th November 2019.

Please see the TPT Guidelines for Seed-free and Phytophthora-free footwear and clothing at http://www.tpt.org.au/ftg.php for more detail. This contains essential information on preparing your gear for TPT outings.

Before going on any TPT field trip, please make sure that there are no seeds caught in your footwear of clothes (esp. shoe tread, laces, Velcro, the side of tongues, cuffs, socks and inside pockets). Ensure there is no mud or soil on the soles of your shoes.
