Wildcare Friends of Great Western Tiers
Our group formed in 2016 and we aim to undertake tasks which will help maintain and protect the natural values of this beautiful area.Tasks such as track maintenance, feral plant removal and the protection of eroded and sensitive areas are some of the tasks we have been working on.
Who we are
We are an interested group of people looking at doing what we can to conserve this beautiful part of Tasmania. We welcome new volunteers.
Where we work
The Great Western Tiers (Kooparoona niara) are a collection of mountain bluffs that form the northern edge of the Central Highlands plateau and are contained within the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Site.
What we do
We undertake tasks such as track maintenance, feral plant removal and the protection of eroded and sensitive areas. One project members are keen to source funding for and to assist with is the provision of a track to protect the fragile area between the top of Higgs track and Lady Lake Hut.
