Who we are

Our group has been recently formed to promote the Billy Browns Falls area as a place for the community to come and enjoy. Our intention is to assist Parks and Wildlife staff to improve and promte the accessibility, attractiveness and amenity of the area, particularly around the start of the Billy Browns Falls walking track.

Where we work

Billy Browns Falls are located in the Russell Ridge Conservation Area which was created as part of the Tasmanian Forest agreement in 2013. The short walk to the Falls starts from Judds Creek Road, 12km from the township of Judbury in the Huon Valley. The 1.5km walk passes through some spectacular old-growth forest and into a hidden pristine valley. The track is in reasonable condition however the area at the start of the walk is in need of regeneration and repair. The natural values of the area are largely intact although disturbance at the start of the walking track has allowed some weed species to establish.

What we do

Current projects include assisting Parks and Wildlife to construct a parking area at the start of the walking track and developing plans for a picnic area and information signage. Track work is planned for the start of the walk to exclude vehicles and improve drainage. Evaluation and management of weeds is also a priority.

Our overall vision is to create a welcoming and cared for environment that encourages the community to come to the area and enjoy the natural values.
