After training, our members are ready to assist with whale rescues at any time of the day. Some rescues occur in isolated locations and extend over a number of days, so members in this group should be prepared to travel to Flinders Island, in a self sufficient manner, possibly for an extended period of time.

Whale Rescue First Response Team – Flinders Island was formed following a specialist training course in Whale Rescue Techniques provided by the Parks and Wildlife Service.

We respond to requests from the Parks and Wildlife Service for rapid response to strandings on Flinders island.

New members are welcome, however to be actively involved in a first response action members must have completed the training course. There are a range of other activities that you may like to assist with in the meantime.
